An R.f. Input Coupler System for the Cebaf Energy Upgrade Cryomodule *

چکیده
Long term plans for CEBAF at Jefferson Lab call for achieving 12 GeV in the middle of the next decade and 24 GeV after 2010. Thus an upgraded cryomodule to more than double the present voltage is under development. A new waveguide coupler system has been designed and prototypes are currently being developed. This coupler, unlike the original, has a nominal Qext of 2.1 x 10 , reduced sensitivity of Qext to mechanical deformation, reduced field asymmetry within the beam envelope, freedom from window arcing with a single window at 300 K, and is capable of transmitting 6 kW CW both traveling wave and in full reflection.

Superconducting Cavity Development for the Cebaf Upgrade
Long-term plans for CEBAF at Jefferson Lab call for achieving 12 GeV in the middle of the next decade and 24 GeV after 2010. In support of these plans, an Upgrade Cryomodule, capable of providing more than twice the operating voltage of the existing CEBAF modules within the same length, is being developed. In particular, this requires the development of superconducting cavities capable of consi...
متن کاملEstimation of Cryogenic Heat Loads in Cryomodule Due to Thermal Radiation
Cryogenic system is one of major cost drivers in high intensity superconducting (SC) continuous wave (CW) accelerators. Thermal radiations coming through the warm-ends of cryomodule and room temperature parts of the power coupler result in additional cryogenic heat loads. Excessive heat load in 2K environment may degrade overall performance of the cavity. In this paper we present studies perfor...
متن کاملUpgrade of the Cebaf Acceleration System
Long-term plans for CEBAF at Jefferson Lab call for providing 12 GeV in the middle of the next decade and 24 GeV after 2010. Such energies can be achieved within the existing footprint by fully populating the accelerator tunnel with cryomodules capable of twice the operating voltage of the existing ones within the same length. In particular, this requires the development of superconducting cavi...
متن کاملCebaf at Higher Energies Working Group Report on Hadron Spectroscopy and Production
This report summarizes topics in hadron spectroscopy and production which could be addressed at CEBAF with an energy upgrade to Eγ = 8 GeV and beyond. The topics discussed include conventional meson and baryon spectroscopy, spectroscopy of exotica (especially molecules and hybrids), CP and CPT tests using φ mesons, and new detector and accelerator options.
متن کاملRf System Development for the Cebaf Energy Upgrade*
A planned upgrade of the present 6 GeV CEBAF accelerator at Jefferson Lab will increase its energy to 12 GeV. To achieve this, new 7-cell superconducting cavities are being built to operate at an average accelerating gradient of 19.5 MV/m with and external Q of 2.2 x 10. The present RF system composed of an analog control loop driving 5 kW klystrons will not support the new cavities and their i...
